Pros

  • – Dishwasher safe
  • – Shatterproof
  • – Zero learning curve
  • – Economical (requires small amounts of coffee)

Cons

  • – Some people prefer a glass pitcher

When coffee is brewed using cold water instead of hot, oxidation due to heat is prevented which means you’ll enjoy the true flavor that comes from coffee beans themselves. There is little change to the flavor after brewing, and a lot of cold brew drinkers find this style of coffee to be much less acidic and bitter.

If you’re looking for an appliance to make this happen, consider the Takeya Cold Brew Coffee Maker. We recently had the pleasure of trying it out and are here to deliver the features and benefits first-hand.

Keep reading to see how we rate this cold brewing pitcher.

Who is the Takeya Cold Brew Coffee Maker For?

Quite obviously, this is a machine specifically for cold brewing (although we see no reason you couldn’t also choose to make hot coffee/tea within the plastic pitcher).

If you are new to home cold brewing, have no fear – once you’ve used the Takeya the first time, you’ll be set for success. We found this coffee maker super simple to use and can confidently recommend it for beginner to advanced homebrewers.

What Makes This Cold Brew Coffee Maker Special?

As with most cold brew coffee makers, the Takeya has a simple and smart design. Made from BPA-free plastic, one of our favorite perks of this specific maker is the fact that it’s durable and doesn’t take too much extra care to handle or clean (it’s dishwasher safe!)

The mesh filter is made to keep coarse grounds in as opposed to floating in your coffee, and we found this to be true.  We had no lid issues while trying out the Takeya and found the seal to be air-tight and leakproof when screwed on tightly and correctly.

The Takeya Cold Brew Maker is meant to use little coffee, making it an economical choice and also smart for those sensitive to caffeine. If you prefer a stronger brew, we still think you’ll love this pitcher but will need to experiment with your grounds/water ratio.

Why Should I Buy This Cold Brew Coffee Maker?

If you’re in the market for a cold brew coffee machine, the Takeya offers a few tremendous reasons to consider purchasing:

  • – Affordability. You can’t beat the price of the Takeya.
  • – Ease of use. Simply fill the filter with your ground coffee, add water, close the lid and let it sit. Other than the forethought and planning of filling the pitcher ahead of time (we recommend at least overnight), you really can’t find a simpler method for making a delicious cup of coffee.
  • – Easy to clean. Dishwasher safe and shatterproof, this pitcher will last years to come.
  • – Money saver. You’ll be set up to save a ton of money if you’re a regular cold-brew drinker that purchases at shops. Also, because it doesn’t require a lot of coffee to brew, you won’t need to budget lots of money to purchase beans either.
  • – Save time. Once you get in the habit of brewing your coffee ahead of time, your concentrate can sit in the fridge for up to two weeks. If you’re lucky, even a daily drinker will only need to brew once or twice a week in total.
