De’Longhi is known for creating quality appliances that allow home users to have professional-level experiences since the early 1900s. Becoming more of a household name in the world of coffee makers, De’Longhi prides itself on users “brewing like a pro”.

We happily and excitedly tried and tested the DeLonghi Dedica Espresso Machine and are here to share our findings in this review. Read on to see what makes this De’Longhi machine special.

Who is the De’Longhi Dedica Espresso Machine For?

The DeLonghi Dedica Espresso Machine is noticeably compact and convenient but has features that allow users an amazing cup of espresso at the same time.

Best for individuals and not groups of people at a time, the machine is simple enough for even novice users to quickly learn to use. And at a reasonable price, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better option for easy, at-home use.

Note that this appliance is considered a “semi-automatic” machine, although we found it to run closely to an automatic machine.

What Makes This Espresso Machine Special?

No matter your coffee drink preference, you can make it with the DeLonghi Dedica due to it’s impressive design features. If you prefer a single or double cup, you’ll be able to make either with this machine. You can even brew from an espresso pod (although we always recommend fresh ground with espresso machines that have the option).

The DeLonghi EC680M comes standard with a 15 bar pressure, like much of the competition, assuring quality results in every cup and control over personal preference. The thermo block technology allows for a relatively quick heat up time, so quick mornings can still be enjoyable with your perfect cup of brew.

The manual milk frother is an important addition, again allowing you to brew any kind of customized milk-based espresso beverage you can think up. The new cappuccino frother allows the Delonghi Dedica to provide quality foam for your creamy cappuccinos (you’ll need to purchase a milk pitcher separately).

One last feature we love? The automatic shut off, so you can brew and go without any worries. This feature will also save power, money, and increase your machine’s longevity all at the same time.

Why Should I Buy This Espresso Machine?

This DeLonghi Dedica is an excellent choice for a person wanting to make an affordable cup of espresso at home, including beginners without much experience in homebrewing. You will not have to know the ins and outs of ultimate espresso-making in order to successfully make a delicious cup of coffee with this machine.

If you are looking to brew multiple ounces of espresso (more than 2) at a time, or if you are in need of filling bigger cups and mugs, you may be better suited to a different model (please see our other reviews).

Note: Because this is a middle-of-the-road appliance, you may consider replacing the included plastic tamper for a more high-quality (metal) one.

Our Verdict

Although requiring a little bit of clean-up after brewing, the DeLonghi EC680m is well worth it for the simple home espresso drinker. Even beginners will be able to quickly learn how to use the machine and benefit from a perfectly delicious espresso drink right away.
