The Compak F10 Espresso Grinder reminded us of the K10 Polished in terms of size. To our surprise, the F10 is actually bigger than the K10. You definitely need some height for this grinder as it stands at 26” tall. In terms of function, it offers a little more than the K10. We were able to pull 7 grams of coffee in 1.6 seconds. The hopper holds a little over 4 pounds of coffee and has a lock that allows you to remove it without the beans flying all over the place. This is the ideal size for a busy cafe that requires a continual production of quality espresso. And, thanks to the dual fans designed within this appliance, you won’t have to worry about the powerful motor becoming too hot and burning your coffee.
Have your settings just how you want them? Then, you’ll like this next part. You can actually program a password into the system to lock in all your settings. This will prevent those around you from switching things up.
This large grinder is programmable and has all the buttons a professional barista could ask for.
You can program the time, grind level, or grind size. We were able to choose between one or two shots of espresso.
Another option was to switch to manual mode using the level on the right side. Pulling the lever instantly shot out perfectly ground beans. It continues to grind your beans until you switch it off where the programmable option stops automatically. It took some getting used to, but after a few tries, we were experts at using the Compak F10.
After grinding our coffee beans, it was time to pull a shot. We tamped down the freshly ground coffee and let our espresso machine do the rest. The result was a bold shot of espresso with consistent flavors and a delicious aroma.
Our team also enjoyed playing around with the menu selection of this grinder. When this device was on “Automatic Mode” we received a single dose of coffee by pushing our portafilter forward. When we pushed it twice, the grinder created a double dose grind. This time-saving feature is not only helpful but fun to use.
You can also select the “Preselect Mode” which requires you to press the single or double grind button. Finally, there is the manual mode which gives you full control over when the grind starts and stops. Just remember that it will continue to grind your coffee until you switch it off.
